OUR SUMMER BRIDGE PROGRAM GETS TEENS BACK ON TRACK

Teens staying at Cedar Ridge Academy receive professional support that focuses on three primary ways of helping them improve their lives.  The first is an excellent academic program in a small school setting, careful staff support from certified teachers and paraprofessional tutors, and college counseling.  We pride ourselves on helping teens really engage in the academic process and achieve a sense of satisfaction from succeeding in school.  Part of the reason we are able to help students in this way is because we operate with a 6 to 1 student to faculty ratio, which allows us to really get to know the students on a personal level and tailor our program to fit their needs.  We also seek to help guide teens toward good colleges by providing them with college and career counseling.  After spending their summer learning a new way to approach educational achievement, your teen will be more prepared to succeed when they return for the school year.

The second key part of our summer program revolves around your teen receiving therapeutic treatment while going through our academic program.  Teens at Cedar Ridge Academy attend both individual and group therapy sessions every week which are designed to help them overcome the issues they have been struggling with.  Our therapists tailor these sessions to address the individual problems your teen is dealing with such as substance abuse, grief, loss, relationship skills, anger, or a wide variety of other common difficulties.  In addition to these formal therapy sessions, at Cedar Ridge Academy, we seek to provide an overall therapeutic environment that emphasizes positive peer interactions and encouragement to make the right choices.  As a means of promoting this kind of environment, we provide round-the-clock supervision and emotional regulation & self awareness training. These aspects of our program work together incredibly well with therapy sessions.

One of the unique aspects of our program at Cedar Ridge Academy is the way we include instruction in Shotokan Karate.  While your teen is staying with us, they will receive 6 hours of instruction per week in a way designed to improve physical fitness and build confidence.  Through our years of experience, we have found that increased activity and confidence can have a profound impact on the teens that go through our program.  For many teens, learning karate can be a driving factor behind them turning their lives around.

TEENAGE BOYS AND GIRLS GET THE HELP THEY NEED THROUGH SUMMER PROGRAMS

Along with academics, therapy, karate, and a positive environment, we incorporate a wide range of other activities into our summer program.  While staying with us, your teen will be able to participate in community service projects and leadership training sessions.  Through these activities, we seek to build a sense of responsibility and self-discipline in the teens we treat.  This can also be a useful opportunity to teach teens independent living skills which can be very important after they have completed treatment.  We especially value this type of learning because it helps teens avoid falling back into the problems that initially led them into treatment.

In addition to these aspects of our summer program that are focused on the teens we treat, we also seek to keep parents involved in their teen’s treatment.  We conduct a parent workshop that is designed to help parents better understand what their teen is going through and how to best help them overcome the issues they have been struggling with.  Also, following your teen’s completion of the summer program, we provide an academic and therapeutic summary of your teen’s time with us and recommendations for moving forward.  We find that these factors are incredibly important to the overall process because it keeps parents actively involved in their teen’s recovery.

If you have a teen who has recently begun struggling academically or with behavioral issues, the Cedar Ridge Academy summer program is the perfect solution.  While teaching your teen new skills and a new approach to their education, we will work to guide them towards better choices and a more successful life.  If you are interested in the help this summer program could provide your teen or if you want more information, please contact us today at 866-471-6629.
