Every teen generation in our Country’s history has been affected by social groups and peer pressure. Ever since our grandfather’s grandfather was in grade school, peer pressure has been an all too real and serious issue that teens will unfortunately eternally gravitate to. Acceptance and what their peers think of them is what drives the decision making of the majority of teens, so much that some teens will become “troubled” in the process.
If you are a parent of a troubled teen that has become afflicted and struggles with saying no to social groups and peer pressure, please don’t hesitate to call the troubled teen experts here at Cedar Ridge Academy. We are a therapeutic boarding school for troubled teens dedicated to serving troubled teenage boys and girls who have lost their way and have strayed from the righteous path. A Sense of Belonging to a Group Can Produce Physiological Changes in Teens
New research with exciting implications for the treatment of teens with issues has recently emerged. This study suggests that when teens participate in group actions, it can bring about clearly detectable physiological changes. During the course of the study, it was clearly demonstrated by researchers that when singing in a choir together, the heart beats of individual members will sync up. While this may seem like it has no application to the treatment of struggling teens, it, in fact, validates many of the group therapy techniques that are commonly used to help teens make breakthroughs.

The Physiological Changes Belonging To A Group Produces Can Help Your Teen Recover
Because we now know that being part of a group brings about a physiological change in teens, we can extrapolate the impact that this likely has on the group therapy provided for teens in treatment centers. The study suggests that there is a subconscious association between members of a group, which would make the impact of group therapy much more effective. If teens are able to really bond with a support group, they will be better able to understand that they are not alone in the issues they are facing while getting the constant support and encouragement that recovery requires. With this kind of help and support, teens will likely be able to recover from a wide range of issues much more effectively. What is important for parents to take away from this new insight into the physiological changes groups bring about in their members, is that it can be incredibly helpful for teens who are struggling to participate in group therapy. This form of treatment will be able to bring about a true group connection that can have a life-changing impact on any teen who has been in need of support. Don’t wait another day to get your teen the group support and help they need to recover from the issues they have been facing.
