Hidden Anger in Teenagers

Are you the parent of a troubled teen that is having difficulty controlling his or her random, extreme episodes of anger? This is a problem all too common among adolescents today. Many of our youth struggle communicating their feelings, which causes them to bottle up their emotions. This often leads to outbursts of irrational anger, which can cause a number of problems in a teen’s life. At Cedar Ridge Academy, we are a therapeutic boarding school for troubled teens that addresses all of the needs teenage boys and girls face in our society, including hidden anger.

Dealing with an angry teenager can be one of the most difficult things for a parent to do. The irrational, illogical thinking patterns that many adolescents use is often hard for adults to understand. Typically, when a teen has an outburst of anger over something that seems trivial, he or she is really angry about something else that happened in the past. This is because troubled teens in our society often suppress their anger, allowing it to build over time, eventually culminating in an extreme outburst.

As a parent, it is important not to overreact to your son or daughter’s outbursts of anger. If your child throws a fit over you asking him or her to complete a simple chore, they are really probably upset over something else in their life. That is why it is important for you to try and be open with your child about his or her emotions. Teaching your son or daughter to open up about his or her feelings can help prevent future outbursts, and help him or her to find true happiness.

Violence in Troubled Teenage Boys

Troubled teenage boys often struggle controlling their anger, causing them to resort to violence. In our society today, mainstream media, such as TV shows, music, video games, internet sites, etc., often glamorizes violence. This often causes adolescents to believe that violence is acceptable, which leads to a number of issues in their lives. At Cedar Ridge Academy, we address all of the issues that troubled teenagers face, including anger management.

When troubled teens act out in anger, it usually means they are covering up some other emotion, such as depression, embarrassment, anxiety, or frustration. In the adolescent stage, boys are experiencing an entirely new range of emotions that they may not be used to dealing with. This can cause them to act out violently, placing themselves and others in danger. It is critical to teach teenage boys how to manage their emotions in an effective manner to prevent these episodes of anger from occurring.

Cedar Ridge Academy Can Help Teenage Boys Manage Their Anger

At Cedar Ridge Academy, we are a therapeutic boarding school for troubled teens. We offer a unique, effective combination of therapy programs to help our students overcome whatever issues they are struggling with, such as anger management.

Through our karate therapy program, students are able to learn how to effectively take out their frustrations through physical activity. The philosophy of our program can be summarized in the dojo Kun, which is a universal meditation that our students recite after each training session. This helps foster an atmosphere of respect by teaching our students to seek perfection of character, be faithful, endeavor to excel, respect others, and refrain from violent behavior.

Regular exercise has enormous benefits for adolescents, such as improving their self-esteem and confidence. This helps them immensely when it comes to managing their emotions, helping them correct their violent behaviors. We also offer an exceptional academic program, helping our students get back on track in their studies with a number of fully-accredited courses available. Please do not hesitate to give us a call at 866-471-6629 if you have any questions regarding our program here at Cedar Ridge Academy.
